{
BROWN AND CALDWELL Pn'ty
CONSULTING ENGINEERS } E
July 25, 1989
L
Ms. Laurie Cotulla
San Joaquin County Local Health District
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
Post Office Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201 017-3174-04/1
Subject: Site Investigation Report ARCO Station 2093,
Tracy, California
f
Dear Ms. Cotulla:
This letter report presents a summary of activities performed by Brown and Caldwell and
American Environmental Management Corporation (AEMC) at the subject site between
December 1986 and January 1989. The laboratory and field results of activity performed by
Brown and Caldwell after January 1989 at the site are presented in-detail.. The site is located.
at 3425 Tracy Boulevard, Tracy, California (see Figure 1). . During March 1989, Brown and
Caldwell performed a site investigation which included the drilling,of three boreholes and the
installation of monitoring wells in the boreholes. The purpose of the March 1989 investiga-
tion was to better define the extent of hydrocarbons that-had,previously been identified in the
soil and groundwater at.the site.
BACKGROUND
On December 5, 1986, AEMC removed one 500-gallon waste oil tank and sampled the under-
lying soil. Analytical results of the soil samples, indicated-the .presence of hydrocarbons.
Additional soil was removed and soil samples were collected from the excavation on
December 17, 1986. Hydrocarbons were identified in the.sampies,'from the former waste oil
tank area.
Brown and Caldwell was authorized by ARCO Products Company (ARCO) in Task Order
Number 2093-1, dated April 16, 1987, to supervise further excavation, collect, and analyze a
third set of samples from the excavation of the former waste oil tank. On January 21, 1987,
Brown and Caldwell personnel collected the soil samples.' Analytical results of.these samples
indicated that hydrocarbons had possibly migrated-downward to the groundwater surface.
Brown and Caldwell reported the analytical 'results of this investigation in a report to ARCO
dated February 4, 1987.
i
723 S STREET SACRAMENTO,CALIFORNIA 95814-7092•(916)444.0123 i
