Weber Street, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br /> Re: Well Abandonment Workplan Addendum <br /> ARCO Service Station No:2093 <br /> 3425 Tracy Boulevard,Tracy, California <br /> Dear Mr. Knoll: <br /> On behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO, a BP-affiliated company), URS Corporation <br /> Americas (URS) has prepared this workplan for the abandonment of 12 groundwater monitoring wells <br /> (ATR-1 through ATR-12), 3 air sparging (AS) wells (S-1 through S-3), 7 soil vapor extraction/AS wells <br /> (VES-1 through VES-7), and 1 groundwater ihonitoring/AS well (SMW-1) at ARCO Service Station <br /> No. 2093 (site) located at 3425 Tracy Boulevard, Tracy, California (Figures 1 and 2). This workplan has <br /> been prepared based on the June 23, 2005, letter from the.California Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board, Central Valley Region. (CRWQCB-CVR) to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Department (SJCEHD) regarding concurrence on a no-further-action-required decision for the site <br /> (Attachment A). <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> i <br /> Currently, the site is operated as an ARCO service station with an AM/PM mini-mart. The site is <br /> bounded.by commercial property to the west and north, Tracy Boulevard to the east, and West Clover <br /> 'Road to the south. The majority of the site is paved. <br /> Site structures include double-walled fiberglass gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs); two pump <br /> islands, and the AM/PM mini-mart. During previous site work, 12 groundwater monitoring wells <br /> (ATR-1 through ATR-12), 3 air sparging (AS) wells (S-1 through S-3), 7 soil vapor extraction/AS wells <br /> (VES-1 through VES-7), and 1 groundwater monitoring/AS well (SMW-1) were installed (Figure 2). <br /> Groundwater extraction well,TEX-1, was properly abandoned in January 2004. <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> This workplan includes discussion of permitting, well abandonment methods, and report preparation. A <br /> health and safety plan has been prepared and will be available on site during field activities. <br /> Permitting <br /> The SJCEHD requires that permits be obtained prior to the abandonment of wells. The City of Tracy <br /> requires encroachment permits to conduct drilling on City property.
