um <br /> • <br /> Mr Harlin Knoll Page 2 <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> April 24, 2003 <br /> extraction well (TEX-1) have been installed at the site Currently,the site is on a quarterly groundwater <br /> monitoring schedule Soil vapor extraction and air sparging is ongoing at the site <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> URS proposes to conduct vertical groundwater flow and well condition assessment on wells ATR-2, <br /> TEX-1, ATR-7, and ATR-8 Welenco, Inc , of Bakersfield, California will be subcontracted to perform <br /> a depth-discrete vertical flow analysis for wells ATR-2 and TEX-1 with a F1oVisionTM flowmeter probe <br /> The F1oVisionTm apparatus indicates both the direction and the velocity of groundwater movement <br /> within the well The analysis will be performed at approximately 2-foot depth intervals along the <br /> submerged portion of the screen intervals listed in Table 1 Approximately thirteen flow measurements <br /> will be recorded for well TEX-1 and approximately ten measurements will be recorded for well ATR-2 <br /> Data from the FloVisionTm apparatus will be used to create profiles showing the direction (up or down) <br /> and flux of groundwater flow along the well screen as shown in Appendix A This information will be <br /> used to determine if wells ATR-2 and TEX-1 are acting as vertical conduits for shallow contamination <br /> to impact deeper water-bearing zones Video images taken during the investigation will also be used by <br /> URS to assess the condition of the wells (weeping perched layers, breaks in the casing, debris on the <br /> well bottom, biological growth, etc ) Details of the MoVisionTm apparatus are included in <br /> Attachment A <br /> Additionally, a separate down-hole camera unit will be used to assess the condition of wells ATR-7 and <br /> ATR-8 (weeping perched layers, breaks in the casing, debris on the well bottom, biological growth, <br /> etc ) <br /> SCHEDULE <br /> Upon approval of this workplan, URS will schedule field activities A report documenting the results of <br /> the vertical flow assessment and well condition assessment will be submitted approximately 6 to 8 <br /> weeks after completion of the fieldwork <br /> K V5 BP ARCON02093Wertical Flow Study12093 Vgradient WorKplan doe <br />
