URS <br /> January 13, 2003 ��C E 1J <br /> • <br /> Mr Dennis Catanyag JAN 2 1 2003 <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> 304 East Webber Avenue, Third Floor ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> Stockton, California 95202 PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Re: Product Line Soil Sampling Report <br /> ARCO Service Station No.2093 <br /> 3425 Tracy Boulevard <br /> Tracy, California <br /> URS Project No.38466066 00003 <br /> Dear Mr Catanyag <br /> URS Corporation Americas (URS) has prepared this report on behalf of Atlantic Richfield <br /> Company (ARCO) to document soil sampling conducted during the removal and replacement of <br /> product lines and dispensers at ARCO Sevice Station No 2093 located at 3425 Tracy Boulevard, <br /> Tracy, California(site) (Figures 1 and 2) <br /> Site Background <br /> Currently, the site is operated as an ARCO gasoline service station, an air sparging system is <br /> operating, and quarterly groundwater monitoring is being conducted at this site The majority of <br /> . the property is paved <br /> The removed product piping was transported to Norcal Waste Systems Pacheco Pass Landfill in <br /> Gilroy, California, for proper disposal Sampling activities were observed and approved by <br /> Mr Dennis Catanyag of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) <br /> Soil Sampling and Analysis <br /> On December 18, 2002, eight soil samples (designated DI-1 through DI-8) were collected beneath <br /> the dispenser stands, and six soil samples (designated LS-1 through LS-6) were collected beneath <br /> the product line trenches Soil samples were collected at depths ranging from 3 5 to 7 feet below <br /> ground surface (bgs) at the locations shown on Figure 2 Soil samples were collected by pushing <br /> six-inch brass liners into a backhoe bucket of excavated soil Soil was field screened for the <br /> presence of volatile organic compounds with a photoiomzation detector (PID) at all sample <br /> loctions The maximum PID reading of 80 parts per million (ppm) was recorded at DI-6 Stained <br /> soil was observed in dispenser island samples DI-I through Dl-6 Field and laboratory procedures <br /> are presented as Attachment A <br /> Soil samrpfes were analyzed for purgeable hydrocarbons by U S Environmental Protection Agency <br /> (EPA)Method 8015M, benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX)by EPA Method <br /> 8021, methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl <br /> tert-butyl ether (ETBE), and tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME) by EPA Method 8260B, and total <br /> lead by EPA Method 6010B Samples were submitted to Sequioa Analytical Laboratory in <br /> Morgan Hill, California (Sequioa)for analysis <br /> URS Corporation <br /> Crown Corporate Center <br /> 2870 Gateway Oaks Drive Suite 300 <br /> Sacramento CR 95833 <br /> Tei 916 679 2000 K V5 BP ARCO\02093\tane Upgrade\LAi 1002 doe <br /> Fax 916 679 2900 <br />
