•
ATTACHMENT A
REMEDIAL SYSTEM PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Soil vapor extraction (SVE) and air sparging were initiated on January 4, 1996 and June 18, 1997, respectively
A brief description and performance evaluation of the remedial system between March 15, 2000 and June 29,
2000 are presented below
SVE System
The SVE system is comprised of 11 SVE wells (VES-1 through VES-7, and ATR-3, ATR-4, ATR-5, and TEX-
1) and a King Buck Hasstech 100 cfm catalytic oxidizer The SVE system is permitted by the San Joaquin
County Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) Permit to Operate Number N-3413-1-0, for
operation through January 1, 2002
Due to relatively low influent concentrations, the SVE/AS was pulsed during the second quarter and will be
pulsed during the third quarter of 2000 During the months of scheduled operation, the SVE system was
approximately 83% operational this quarter Downtime was attributed to power outages between routine
between monthly maintenance visits During this period, the SVE system removed approximately 22 27 pounds
of TPHg and 0 04 pounds of benzene To date, the SVE system has removed approximately 3,520 5 pounds of
TPHg and 9 3 pounds of benzene from the soil and groundwater beneath the site Historical SVE system
performance and analytical data are summarized in Tables A-1 and A-2 Graphical presentations of TPHg mass
removal and influent concentration data are shown on Figures A-1 and A-2
Air Sparging System
The air sparge system is comprised of 11 air sparge wells (VES-1 through VES-7, S-1 through S-3, and SMW-
1)and a Conde 7 5-horsepower sparge blower
The air spargmg system operated at an average mjection pressure of 5 6 psi and an average flow rate of 20 7
cfm Au spargmg system operational data, mcludmg well open/closed status, flow rate and applied pressure,
data are presented m Table A-3 Dissolved oxygen levels for site wells are presented in Table A-4
