CRA destroyed monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 at the request of the
Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) following site closure notification
(Attachment A). The locations of the former wells are shown on Figure 2.
On August 19, 2010,CRA staff scientist Chris Benedict observed Confluence Environmental
(C-57 license number 913194) destroy wells MW-1 through MW-4. All monitoring wells were
destroyed by pressure grouting. The wells were backfilled with Portland Type I/11 cement,
pressure was applied to each well at 25 pounds per square inch for five minutes, the well vaults
were removed, and the top six inches were filled to grade with concrete.
Waste generated during well destruction was stored onsite in one Department of
Transportation-approved 55-gallon steel drum. Upon disposal profile acceptance, the waste
will be transported to a Chevron-approved facility for disposal/recycling.
Well Completion Reports for the destruction of these wells will be submitted to the Department
of Water Resources within 60 days of completion of field activities.
CRA's Standard Field Procedures for Monitoring Well Destruction is presented as
Attachment B. Copies of the well destruction permits from San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department(SJCEHD) are presented as Attachment C.
Equal
Em pioyment
Opportunity Employer
Worldwide Engineering,Environmental,Construction,and tT Services
