CA <br /> Attached`Corrective Action Report(Touchstone, 4/22/96) <br /> Attached Project Summary Report(CRTC, 11/27/95) <br /> Attached Non-Hazardous Waste Manifests(BFI Nos 780948 - 52) <br /> Dear Mr Rowe <br /> Please find attached a report dated Apnl 22, 1996 which was prepared by Chevron's consultant, <br /> Touchstone Developments(Touchstone),to describe results of corrective action taken at the subject site <br /> between November 7, 1995 and February 8, 1996 Touchstone's corrective action plan included soil and <br /> groundwater sampling dunng the removal and replacement of underground storage tanks(UST's) as well <br /> as, preliminary site assessment in the form of four soil bonngs and four groundwater monitoring wells A <br /> description of the unauthorized release, handling and disposal of free product, and the handling and <br /> disposal of soil stockpiles generated during UST removal/replacement was provided in the report of the <br /> unauthorized release dated November 10, 1995 <br /> In addition to the results presented in Touchstone's report,you will also find attached copies of non- <br /> hazardous waste manifests documenting the disposal of soil that was generated during the <br /> removal/installation of the UST's and which were not available at the time of the unauthorized release <br /> report A copy of a report issued by Chevron Research and Technology Company(CRTC,11/27/95) has <br /> also been attached which describes the chemical composition of the free product sampled from the former <br /> UST excavation by Touchstone <br /> The results of soil and groundwater sampling performed by Touchstone during the removal/replacement <br /> of UST's in November, 1995 indicated that both, soil and groundwater were impacted by gasoline and <br /> gasoline constituents The analytical results report some detections of diesel fuel however, all reported <br /> concentrations were noted as being unidentified hydrocarbons within the diesel range of analysis Chevron <br /> has no records indicating the sale or distribution of diesel fuel at the subject site The chemical analysis <br /> performed by CRTC indicated that the free product found on groundwater in the former UST excavatio <br /> was"aged" gasoline only Therefore, the contaminant of concern is gasoline and the source area <br /> apparently was the former UST complex There were other detections of gasoline and gasoline <br /> constituents, to a lesser extent, in soil and groundwater in and around the former pump islands and the <br /> present UST complex <br /> Included in Touchstone's report is a description of dewatenng activities that were performed to facilitate <br /> the installation of tanks in the present UST complex All extracted groundwater was temporarily stored in <br /> Baker Tanks onsite, treated by activated carbon, and disposed under permit to the City of Tracy sewer <br /> treatment facility <br />
