ER
. - 1,%,.- J FOR T I ON
P 02!
MITTELHAUSER
-corporation
MEMORANDUM
DATE: September 3, 1991
TO: Roger
FROM: Marjorie
SUBJECT: P1745, Tracy
Please arrange to take a water sample from MW-4 at the above
location some time close to September 15. When you' ve checked
Your schedule, please call, Harlin Knoll at (209) 458-3442, tell
him what you plan to do, and coordinate an appointment with him,
as he may want to be on site .
Method:
Take a water sample for TPHg and BTEX analysis using a disposable
bailer and cord which I will supply you. After removing the lid
and cap, put an orange cone over the well for temporary protection
and wash your hands, using the service station rest room. After
tying the cord to the bailer, use disposable gloves while bailing
the well of approximately 5 gallons of water and then taking a
water sample .
Bail into a clean plastic bucket, then hammer on a lid and bring
the water back to the office. As it has been tested as Non Detect
previously, this is okay. We will hold it for the lab result
before disposing.
Pour your sample bailing into a liter bottle, and from the bottle
into three VOAs; unless Harlin is there to hold the VOAs, because
it takes two hands to control the bailer. Be sure there is a good
meniscus with no bubbles on the VOAs, cap carefully, and turn
upside down, tapping to be sure there are no bubbles . Fill up the
1 liter bottle the same way.
Label the 4 bottles with number 1745MW4-4, put on ice, and deliver
with chain-of-custody document to ChromaLab on your way back to
the office . (S-dam 7547)
Thanks,
f 4
