iftelhauser <br /> f /"CQR POR AT ION 7901 Stoneridge Drive,Suite 123 <br /> Pleasanton, California 94588 <br /> (510)416-2900 Fax{510!416-0957 <br /> July 11, 1995 <br /> Mr Edward Ralston <br /> Unocal Corporation <br /> 2000 Crow Canyon Place <br /> San Ramon, California 94583 <br /> SUBJECT Report of Well Abandonment <br /> Former Unocal Station #6348 <br /> 3788 Tracy Boulevard <br /> Tracy, California <br /> Dear Mr Ralston <br /> At your request, Mittelhauser Corporation (Mittelhauser) have prepared this report on <br /> proper abandonment of four groundwater monitoring wells located at the subject site The <br /> location of the site is shown in Figure 1 - Site Location Map The well abandonment was <br /> performed in preparation for final site closure <br />' BACKGROUND <br /> As shown in Figure 2, Monitoring Well Location Map, four onsite groundwater monitoring <br /> wells (MW-1 , MW-2, MW-3, and MW-4) were Installed on July 8 and 9, 1991 On <br /> November 24, 1992, Mittelhauser personnel abandoned monitoring well MW-3 in <br /> preparation for the tank removal and soli excavation program On November 29, 1993, <br /> Mittelhauser installed well MW-3A to replace former well MW-3 Since the original <br /> monitoring well installation, at least three wells have been monitored and sampled on a <br /> quarterly basis <br /> Laboratory analytical results for samples taken from the wells have been clean for the last <br /> four quarters of sampling (third quarter 1993 through fourth quarter 1994) Based on the <br /> groundwater results and the results of the Additional Site Characterization Investigation <br /> (Mittelhauser, February 1995), Unocal Corporation applied to San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services/Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS/EHD) for site closure After <br /> SJCPHSIEHD authorized final site closure, the four wells were abandoned in accordance <br /> with County specifications Well abandonment procedures that were used on the project <br /> are outlined in the following section <br /> Your Partner in Environmental Management <br /> Chicago IL ■ Indianapolis, IN 9 Laguna Hills CA Pleasanton, CA <br />
