5.0 PETITION FOR SITE CLOSURE
In 1990, Unocal conducted an investigation on this property That investigation
included an evaluation of hydrocarbon contamination and the installation of three
groundwater monitoring wells. After remediation activities and four successive
' quarters of non-detect findings, San Joaquin County wrote a letter granting site
closure. The County subsequently rescinded the closure status and requested
additional site characterization Unocal complied with this request and performed the
investigation described in this report The analytical results of this additional site
' characterization indicate that no constituents of concern were detected and that site
remediation is complete. Therefore, there is no need for additional site investigation
' or monitoring
' With site remediation complete, Unocal hereby submits a petition for site closure
Unocal recommends cessation of the quarterly monitoring program and clearance for
destruction of the onsite monitoring wells.
' 60 LIMITATIONS AND CERTIFICATION
The content and conclusions provided by Mittelhauser in this report are based on
information collected during the soil boring and hydropunch groundwater sampling
activities, laboratory testing of soil and groundwater samples, and our professional
judgment based on said information at the time of preparation of this document. Any
' subsurface sample results and observations presented herein are considered to be
representative of the area of investigation, however, geological conditions may vary
between borings and may not necessarily apply to the general site as a whole. If
future subsurface or other conditions are revealed which vary from these findings, the
' newly-revealed conditions must be evaluated and may invalidate the conclusions of
this report.
21888010 wpkFebrwry 1996 7 / 4ittelhauser
C 0 R P 0 R A 7 1 0 M
