specific concerns of the Technical Review Committee of the SJCPHS/EHD as stated
in their letter dated December 28, 1994
' 3 1 TASK 1 PREFIELD ACTIVITIES
Following approval of this workplan by the SJCPHS/EHD, all drilling permits will be
obtained This will occur prior to any drilling operations at the site In addition, a site
' Health and Safety Plan will be prepared to establish the required level of protection
and safety procedures to be used at the site This plan will be prepared in accordance
' with Mittelhauser Corporate Health and Safety procedures
' 32 TASK 2 SOIL BORINGS BOREHOLE LOCATION AND DEPTH
' Four soil borings are planned to complete this investigation The locations of these
borings are shown on Figure 2 One of the four soil borings, ACS-1 , will be located
close to the location of former sample point SW-7 Boring ACS-2 will be located close
to the location of former sample point PL-7 in order to determine the vertical extent
' of elevated gasoline constituents at that location. The two remaining borings, ACS-3
and ACS-4, will be installed on the eastern side of the former Unocal station (known
' as the "vacant lot") approximately adjacent to the former location of the USTs and
outside the perimeter of the backfilled excavation All of the borings will be advanced
' and sampled to an approximate depth of 10 feet below ground surface (bgs)
' 3.21 Soil Borings - Logging and Sampling
' All borings will be logged by a field geologist under the direction of a California
Registered Geologist Boring logs will be prepared using the Unified Soil
' Classification Samples will be retrieved from depths of 5 and 10 feet bgs if
groundwater conditions permit Soil samples will be retrieved using the hollow-stem
drilling method The auger will be advanced to the desired sampling depth, and the
21SM"I wpWwwwy 1996 2 /qittelhauser
c Q n r 0 e n r t 0 H
