Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
SUBJECT. Quarterly Monitoring Report
Unocal Service Station #6348
3788 Tracy Boulevard
Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Bullock:
On December 11 , 1991 Mittelhauser Corporation
monitored and sampled groundwater monitoring wells MW-2 , MW-
3 , and MW-4 at station #6348 in Tracy, California. Earlier
sampling events had not detected contamination in wells MW-1,
MW-2 , and MW-4 , while MW-3 immediately adjacent to the
underground fuel storage tanks contained petroleum
hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPHg) and components benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) .
The December 11 sampling event confirmed the
findings of previous sampling events . No TPHg or BTEX was
detected in MW-2 and MW-4 (upgradient MW-1 was not sampled) .
Hydrocarbons were again detected in MW-3 . well locations
are shown on the Site Plan, Figure 1.
BACKGROUND
The business at the site is a Unocal service
station which has been in operation since 1972 and is
scheduled for closure at the end of March, 1992 .
In June, 1990 the underground waste-oil storage
tank was replaced because of suspected leaks . The tank was
found to have leaked and the pit was overexcavated to remove
contaminated soil . Not all contaminated soil could be
removed because of the proximity of the pit to the product
storage tanks.
0
CHICAGO, IL SAN RAMON, CA PORT ARTHUR, TX
