I
11 July 2001
' AGE-NC Project No 98-0452
' MTBE was detected by EPA Method 8020 in the ground water samples collected from MW-2 and
MW-3 MTBE detections were confirmed by EPA Method 8260 modified in the ground water
Isamples collected from MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations of 1 6 micrograms per liter
(gg/1),57µg/l,and 160 pg/l,respectively The ground water samples collected during the June 2001
' sampling event were not analyzed for TPH-d
Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Table 2 The laboratory report(MAI
' Laboratory ID 69654 through 69657) and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix B
' 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes the following
• The ground water gradient was calculated to be 0 001 ft/ft with a flow direction toward the
east-northeast
' • TPH-g and BTEX compounds were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in any of
the ground water samples collected and analyzed
• • MTBE was detected in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations of
1 6 µg/l, 57 pg/l and 160 Ag/l,respectively The concentrations detected in samples MW-2
and MW-3 exceeed the action level and Maximum Containment Level for MTBE in drinking
' water
5.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected from the site,AGE recommends continued ground water monitoring for
MTBE The next quarterly monitoring event should be scheduled for September 2001 AGE
recommends that the domestic well be monitored monthly for MTBE
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
I environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon field
measurements and analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the
geologic/hydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a
I
limited number of available data points(i a morutonng wells, ground water samples)and subsurface
conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made
• as to the professional recommendations contained in this report
IAdvanced GeoEnnronmenial,Inc
I
