21 March 2001
. AGE-NC Project No 98-0452
transported under chain-of-custody to McCambell Analytical Laboratories, Inc and were analyzed
P y yt
for
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
I Methods 5030/8015m and 3550,
• Methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 602/8020, and
Oxygenated fuel additives-MTBE, tertiary butyl alcohol(TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
l ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE), and tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME)in accordance with
EPA Method 8260-Modified
I
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation and flow direction were calculated from field data, hydrocarbon-impact to
ground water was assessed by laboratory analysis of the ground water samples
. 3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
The relative elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground
water from the surveyed well head elevations (Table 1) Depths to ground water ranged from 5 44
feet to 6 10 feet below the tops of the well casings Ground water elevations at the site ranged from
-1 89 feet in MW-1 to -2 06 in MW-3 relative to mean sea level The ground water gradient was
calculated to be 0 002 ft/ft with a flow direction toward the north to northeast (Figure 3)
' 32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the four groundwater samples analyzed
' MTBE was detected by EPA Method 8260 modified in the ground water samples collected from
MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations of 2 7 micrograms per liter(µg/1), 14 µg/1 and 63 µg/l,
' respectively
TPH-d and BTEX compounds were not analyzed in the ground water samples collected during the
' December 2000 sampling event
' Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Table 2 The laboratory report(MAI
Laboratory ID 55728-55731) and chain-of-custody forms are included m Appendix B
I
Advanced GeoEnvironmontal,Inc
I
