r
Mr. Vidal Pedroza low
March 23, 2000
feet and 100 ppm at 14.5 feet. No odors were noted at 19.5 feet bgs, and FID readings were zero.
No petroleum odors or soil discoloration was noted in any samples collected from any other boring.
FID readings were zero. Copies of field logs are included in Attachment A.
4.2 Laboratory Analysis
Soil samples collected beneath the gasoline UST were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPHg) using EPA method 8015 modified, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes
(BTEX) using EPA method 8020, gasoline oxygenate additives using EPA method 8260, and total
lead using EPA method 60101200.7. Soil samples collected beneath the diesel USTs were analyzed
for BTEX using EPA method 8020 and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) using EPA
method 8015 modified. Soil samples collected beneath the product dispensers were analyzed for
TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, and total lead using the methods indicated above, as well as methyl-tert-butyl
ether(MTBE)using EPA method 8020.
The groundwater sample was analyzed for dissolved lead (EPA 60101200.7), TPHg, TPHd, BTEX,
and MTBE by the methods listed above.
4.3 Soil Analytical Results
No petroleum hydrocarbon constituents were detected above the laboratory detection limit in any
soil boring, except for the samples collected from 14.5 feet bgs in borings SB4 and SB5. TPHd was
detected at 8.6 parts per million (ppm) in boring SB5, located at the south end of the center diesel
UST, at a depth of 14.5 feet bgs. TPHg was detected at 1.4 ppm and xylenes were detected at 0.016
ppm in boring SB4, located at the south end of the gasoline UST, at a depth of 14.5 feet bgs.
Total lead was detected at levels ranging from 5.3 (parts per million) ppm to 14 ppm. Analytical
results are summarized in Table 1. Laboratory reports and chain of custody documentation are
included in Attachment B.
4.4 Groundwater Analytical Results
The grab groundwater sample collected from boring SBI contained no detectable TPHg, BTEX,
MTBE, or dissolved lead. However, TPHd was detected at a concentration of 110 parts per billion
(ppb).
Analytical results of the groundwater sample is included in Table 1. Laboratory reports and chain
of custody documentation are included in Attachment B.
5.8 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
5.1 Summary
Soil at the site was classified as lean to silty clay in soil samples collected between 3 and 11
G:1D"GROUNDZE\Waterfront\Sub=f3=.doe 4
