SUPtABUGS
Technical' .Bulletin
Description
5uperbugs are formulated sp,ecficaLly ao dispose o,f hazardous
waste safely, economically and rapidly. Hazardous waste, for our.
purposes, should be defined, ' as insecticides, fungicides,
herbicides, and petroleum products such. .asI waste oil, diesel fuel,
gasoline and solvents - in short", 'anything of an organic nature.
Superbugs contain the -necessary specific enzyme systems, both
aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, as well as microbial nutrients .
They work quickly and efficiently to digest chemical organic waste
with no odor or noxious gas .
What Is Bacterial Digestion?
Bacterial digestion is " the "Trocess of bacteria consuming
organic matter. The .bacteria feed° on the organic waste, deriving.
nutrition for growth and . reproduction. Using complex chemical.
reactions , the organic waste is "metabolized down to water and
carbon dioxide ( the final metabolic waste products) , providing the
bacteria with energy to sustain their life. The end result of this
process : organic waste is consumed; used up, and no longer present .
to produce odor's, pollution, or unsightly mess .
This process is familiar to us all as the decay of dead animal
or vegetable matter. It is , a 'natural process that occurs
constantly in the environment. . We are meanly assisting Mother
Nature by adding massive amounts o£ specific, enzymes and bacteria
to hasten the process .
Bacteria Cultures
Thousands of different types of bacteria exist' everywhe`re in
our world, and most of them carry on ".bacterial digestion in some
way. However, some of them are found -only in -a particular place
(environment) , require specialized types of, food; and/,6r have very
unique biological roles (nichesy. a Certain species we .find useful
and desirable, while others cause. odors; disease, and . other '
problems .
A bacteria is a single cell- lAfe form - each individual cell
is a separate, unique organism. Bacteria often grow into colonies..
that appear as jelly-like ma.s:ses; but each cell- remains an
independent, individual. life . Bacteria reproduce by a process
called cell division. . A mature- bacteria reproduces 'by' dividing
into .two "daughter cells" , ' each: Identical to each other and the
parent bacteria. Under ideal conditions, bacteria can reproduce
very rapidly, producing a new generation every 20 to 30 minutes .
Following the reproduction process, we see -that the number of
individual bacteria doubles with each generation. The .population"
explodes as the number :of" organisms increases .logarithmically, .
