The entire problem of
the excavation and the activities that had taken place were dis-
cussed. The three ground\s-a er .monitoring wells were located and
the excavation and spoil piles examined. after returning to the
JTO office, all files were opened to the c:nsultants and all data
thought pertinent regarding 1ho subject project were selected for
copying.
Owing to the approaching holidays and prior corrrrlittrnents 04 th,
consultants , very little work was accomplished during the remain-
der of 1959. .As a first order of busin^ss , a topographical
i surveyor :vas hired to re-establish the monitoring well elevations
and to run enough vertical levels to produce a topographical con-
tour map of the excavation: (Fig. 4 ) ,
The survey was run on January 11 , 1990, under the supervision of
JTO and DRA. On the same date, DRA examined all spoil piles and
the open excavation. Once again, it is emphasized that DRf', never
saw the open excavation when it was 45' deep; it had already ween
par-Eially filled prior to the December 1959 visit .
