F
,1,
rDDENDUM
SITE ASSESSMENT REPORT
FORMER ISC WINERY SITE
1 WEST TURNER ROAD, LODI, CA
INTRODUCTION
On February 1, 1990, the report "Site Assessment Report
Update and Work Status, Former IGC Winery Site, 1 Kest
Turner- Rd. , Lodi, CA" was submitted to the Department of
Health Services with an extra copy for the Regional Water
Quality Control Board. Certain work was proposed in order to
complete the assessment of possible aqui.er infiltration and
to establish if possible the piezometric surface of the
groundwater. This addendum to that report should complete
those tasks and finalize site assessment, but it is not
intended to undertake remediation which is still under con-
sideration by Jim Thorpe Oil , Inc.
ACTIVITY
There are three mcnitcring wells on site, which were used
for both water sample testing and in establishing the piezo-
metric surface in a previous report documented in the main
body of the ISC Winery Report to which this is an addendum.
These wells had all been sheared by earth moving equipment
and new elevations run on the stubs. In order to protect the
wells from vandals, the well tops had been cut off and Ot.
lockable steel caps installed. Because accurate measurements
of the well tops were not kept, re--surveying is again
necessary. All measurements of water and bottom levels will
be made from the top of casing (too) .
purge On March 22, 1990 an attempt was made to p e the three g
wells and to bail them clean (develop them by bailing) .
Persons present were: Richard Thorpe, Jim Thorpe Oil , Inc. ;
Dennis Allen and Bill Hunter, Consultants; Darlene Reuss and
Greg Lyon, DHS; and Andy Bakinow5ki and Laura Valley,
Groundwater Technology, Inc. , who supplied an electric water
level detector and a 1" ID bailer. A water supply truck con-
taining City of Lodi municipal water, connecting hoses and
pvc pipe for purging the wells was also on site, Samples of
the water in the truck were taken by P,ichard Thorpe in
containers supplied by Canonie Labs.
Well No. i, the westerly well , was entered first. Fill was
found at about 36' toc. The wash pipe was placed in the well
to the point of fill and water was introduced by gravity.
Immediate returns of muddy water and silt were obtained. The
well was washed for about to minutes with relatively clean
water obtained at the end. Owing to the water trucl: set up,
no estimate of water introduced into any of the wells was
_obtained.- An--attempt was- made._.to_.bai..l ...this-well—but gsa_i_ng _...._ _.__-.
