tk4 KLEINFELDER
1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report summarizes the fourth quarter 2005 groundwater sampling activities
conducted in the vicinity of an underground storage tank (UST) at the General Mills
Facility located at 2000 West Turner Road In Lodi, California (Plate 1)
Groundwater samples were collected from three monitoring wells, MW-2, MW-3, and
MW-4 on December 20, 2005 (Plate 2) A fourth monitoring well MW-1 had a product
skimmer installed during the third quarter and therefore, a groundwater sample from
this well was not collected The three groundwater samples collected were analyzed for
total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel (TPH-D), purgeable
hydrocarbons as referenced to gasoline (TPH-G), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
total xylenes (BTEX) No product or sheen was observed in the groundwater samples
collected from wells MW-2, 3, and 4 during this sampling event
Groundwater elevations ranged from -0 58 feet at MW-2 to 0 42 feet at MW-4 The
groundwater flow direction was calculated to be southwest with an approximate gradient
of 0 003 ft/ft (Plate 3) This groundwater flow direction and gradient was found to be
consistent with previous groundwater sampling events, with a slight variation noted in
the previous 3rd quarter 2005 sampling event The previous 3rd quarter 2005 sampling
event had a south by southwest flow direction as opposed to a southwestern flow
+ direction and the gradient was slightly steeper (0 005 vs 0 003 ft/ft) See Table 1 for
past trends
The analytical results for the groundwater samples collected are summarized in Section
5 and Table 2 of this report None of the requested petroleum constituents, including
TPH-G, TPH-D, and BTEX, were detected in the groundwater samples collected from
the down-gradient monitoring wells, MW-2 and MW-3, or from the upgradient well, MW-
4 Based on the information obtained, it is Kleinfelder's opinion that the groundwater
contaminant plume is located in the vicinity of MW-1 and the existing UST area, and is
apparently contained within perimeter monitoring wells MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 For a
summary of our findings, including conclusions and recommendations, please refer to
Section 6 of this report
f this re should be submitted to the San Joaquin Count
A copy o s ort p q y Environmental
Health Department (SJCIEHD) and the State of California, Central Valley Regional
Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for their review and comment
This report, and the conclusions and recommendations presented, are subject to the
"Limitations" presented in Chapter 7 of this report Any party other than the client who
would like to use this report shall notify Kleinfelder, Inc of such intended use in writing
for permission
28209 T09IST06R1601CD Iv Page 1 of 12
0 20116 Kleinfelder, Inc February 15, 2006
