k'9 KLEINFELDER
1 EYECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report summanzes Kleinfelder's groundwater sampling activities conducted for the fourth
quarter, 2003 at the General Mills Facility located at 2000 West Turner Road in Lodi, California
Mr Wade Broughton retained Kleznfelder to conduct the activities based upon Kleinfelder's
proposal titled "Proposal/Cost Estimate, Groundwater Monitoring and Reporting, and Remedial
Activities, General Mills Facility, 2000 West Turner Road, Lodi, California," dated March 18,
2003
' Groundwater samples were collected from each of the four monitoring wells, MW-1, MW-2,
MW-3, and MW-4 on December 17, 2003 The groundwater samples were analyzed for total
extractable petroleum hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel (TPH-D), purgeable hydrocarbons as
referenced to gasoline (TPH-G), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX)
No product or sheen was observed in the groundwater samples collected from MWs-2, 3, and 4
during this sampling event Approximately one quarter inch of product and a strong petroleum
' lake odor were noted in the initial purge water from MW-1
Groundwater elevations ranged from 0 75 feet at MW-2 to 1 81 feet at MW-4 The groundwater
flow direction was to the southwest with an approximate gradient of 0 003 ftJft This
groundwater flow direction and gradient is consistent with previous quarterly sampling events
(See Table 1)
The analytical results for the groundwater samples collected are summarized in Section 5 and
Table 2 of this report TPH-D and TPH-G were detected In the groundwater sample collected
from MW-1 TPH-D was detected at a concentration of 13 milligrams/liter (mg/1) and TPH-G
was detected at a concentration of 2 8 mg/1 BTEX constituents were not detected in MW-1
None of the requesting petroleum constituents including TPH-G, TPH-D and BTEX were
detected in the groundwater samples collected from the down-gradient monitoring wells, MW-2
and MW-3, nor from the upgradient well MW-4 For a complete summary of our findings,
including conclusions and recommendations please refer to Section 6 of this report
A copy of this report should be submitted to the San Joaquin Count Public Health Services
q Y
Department, Environmental Health Division (EHD) and the State of California, Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for their review and comment
This report, and the conclusions and recommendations presented, are subject to the "Limitations"
presented in Chapter 7 of this report Anyone other than the client, who wishes to use this
document must complete the "Application for Authorization to Use" which is included as
Appendix D to this report
1
25209 T03/ST04R i 57 page 1 of i I
©2004 Klesnfelder, Inc Febivary 3,2004
