' k" KLEINFELDER I EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ' This report summanzes Kleinfelder's groundwater sampling activities conducted for the second quarter, 2003 at the General Mills Facility located at 2000 West Turner Road in Lodi, California Mr Wade Broughton retained Kleinfelder to conduct the activities based upon Kleinfelder's ' proposal titled "Proposal/Cost Estimate, Groundwater Monitoring and Reporting, and Remedial Activities, General Mills Facility, 2000 West Turner Road, Lodi, California," dated March 18, 2003 ' Groundwater samples were collected from each of the four monitoring wells, MWs-1, 2, 3, and 4 on June 12, 2003 The groundwater samples were analyzed for total extractable petroleum ' hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel (TPH-D), purgeable hydrocarbons as referenced to gasoline (TPH-G), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) No product or sheen was observed in the groundwater samples collected from MWs-2, 3, and 4 during this sampling event Approximately one half inch of product and a strong petroleum like odor were noted in the initial purge water from MW-1 Groundwater elevations ranged from 148 feet at MW-2 to 2 72 feet at MW-4 The groundwater flow direction was to the southwest at an approximate gradient of 0 004 ft/ft This groundwater flow direction and gradient is generally consistent with previous quarterly sampling events (See Table 1) ' The analytical results for the groundwater samples collected are summarized in Table 2 and Section 5 of this report TPH-D, TPH-G and ethylbenzene were detected in the groundwater sample collected from MW-1 TPH-D was detected at a concentration of 17 mg/1 and TPH-G was detected at a concentration of 2 4 mg/1 Ethylbenzene was detected at 2 4 microgram per liter (�ig/l) No other requested petroleum constituents were detected in groundwater collected from MW-1 including total xylenes, which have been detected in previous sampling events in MW-1 None of the requested petroleum constituents were detected in the groundwater samples collected from perimeter wells MW-2, MW-3 or MW-4, during this second quarter 2003 sampling event For a complete summary of our findings, including conclusions and recommendations please refer to Section 6 of this report ' A copy of this report should be submitted to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) and the State of California, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for their review and comment ' This report, and the conclusions and recommendations presented, are subject to the "Limitations" presented in Chapter 7 of this report Anyone other than the client, who wishes to use this document must complete the "Application for Authorization to Use" which is included as Appendix D to this report 28209 T03 1 ST03R1312 Page 1 of i 1 ©2003 Kleinfelder, Inc September 22, 2003
