k` ■ KLEINFELDER <br /> ] EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br /> This is an annual 2002 report for groundwater sampling conducted at the General Mills Facility <br /> located at 2000 West Turner Road in Lodi, California This annual report summarizes four <br /> quarterly sampling events conducted in 2002, including the fourth quarter sampling event <br /> conducted on December 13, 2002 Mr Wade Broughton retained Kleinfelder to conduct the <br /> sampling activities based upon Kleinfelder's Proposal titled "Proposal/Cost Estimate, <br /> Groundwater Monitoring and Reporting, General Mills Facility, 2000 West Turner Road, Lodi, <br /> tCalifornia," dated June 19, 2002 <br /> Groundwater samples were collected quarterly from each of four monitoring wells, MWs-1, 2, 3, <br /> and 4 in January, June, September and December 2002 The groundwater samples for the first <br />' three quarters of 2002 were analyzed for extractable hydrocarbons (TPH-D) and purgeable <br /> hydrocarbons as referenced to gasoline (TPH-G), benzene toluene, ethylbenzene, and total <br /> xylenes (BTEX), and for five oxygenates (TBA, MTBE, D1PE, ETBE, and TAME) For the <br /> fourth quarter 2002 sampling event, groundwater samples were not analyzed for oxygenates Mr <br /> Harlin Knoll from San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS/EHD) gave verbal approval to discontinue the oxygenate analyses since <br /> oxygenates have not been detected in groundwater for the first three quarters of 2002 <br /> Groundwater elevations in 2002 have ranged from 134 feet to 4 73 feet Depth to water in 2002 <br /> has ranged from 34 95 feet below top of casing (approximate ground surface) to 38 34 feet The <br /> groundwater flow direction has been consistently towards the southwest at a gradient ranging <br />' from 0 003 to 0 004 ft/ft , in 2002 <br /> No product or sheen was observed in the groundwater samples collected from perimeter <br />' monitoring wells MW-2, 3, and 4, during the four quarterly sampling events conducted in 2002 <br /> A strong petroleum odor has been noted in groundwater from monitoring well MW-1 A product <br /> layer was noted for the first time during the third and fourth quarters of 2002 from initial purge <br />' water collected from MW-1 The product layer noted from MW-1 during the third quarter <br /> sampling event was approximately 4-inches thick, but was noted as a thin film (< 0 01 feet thick) <br /> during the fourth quarter 2002 sampling event <br />' The analytical results for the groundwater samples collected in 2002 are summarized in Table 2 <br /> and Section 5 of this report Laboratory data sheets for the 4th quarter 2002 are included as <br /> Appendix C Petroleum constituents have been primarily detected in MW-1 located in proximity <br /> to a non-operating underground storage tank (UST) A trace concentration of diesel was detected <br /> once in June 2002 from downgradient monitoring well MW-2 TPH-G, TPH-D, BTEX and five <br />' oxygenates have not otherwise been detected in perimeter monitoring wells MW-2, MW-3 and <br /> MW-4 in 2002 <br /> i <br /> 18748 T02/ST03ROSI Page 1 of 12 <br /> ©2003 Klemfelder,Inc January 23,2003 <br />
