6 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
6.1 SOIL
TPH-D was detected in two soil samples collected at depths of 20 and 30 feet below ground
surface PID readings and visual observations indicate that soils may be impacted from depths
' ranging from 15 to 40 feet bgs The 15 foot soil sample had a PID reading of 19 5 ppmv
accompanied by a slight petroleum like odor and the 35 foot soil sample had a PID reading of
37 1 also with a petroleum-like odor Grayish discoloration was noted in samples collected at
depths ranging from 20 to 35 feet bgs
6.2 GROUNDWATER
A transparent disposable bailer was partially submerged into the groundwater poor to purging
the monitoring well to assess the groundwater for a potential sheen and/or floating product No
' product was observed although a sheen was noted Monitoring well MW-1 is located
approximately 5 to 10 feet from the existing UST The depth to groundwater was approximately
34 04 feet bgs
TPH-D, ethylbenzene and total xylenes were detected in groundwater collected from. MW-1
TPH-D was detected at 46 8 mg/1 Ethylbenzene was detected at 4 88 µg/1, which is below the
' State and Federal primary Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 700 µg/l Total xylenes
were detected at 4 17 µg/l and is also below the State and Federal MCLs of 1,750 and 10,000
µg/l, respectively This xylene concentration is also below a federal proposed secondary MCL
of 20 µg/l
63 CONCLUSIONS
Based upon the data obtained during Klemfelder's assessments, soil results show that
petroleum impacted soils are present at depths ranging from at least 20 to 30 feet below ground
surface dust west and southwest of and existing UST (Locations Bl, B2 and MW-1) Field
indications shown that impacted soils are likely affected at depths ranging from 15 to 35 feet
bgs southwest of an existing UST (MW-1)
Groundwater also appears to be affected by petroleum hydrocarbons southwest of the former
and existing UST The vertical or horizontal extent of contamination is unknown and beyond
the scope of Kleinfelder's approved investigation
20-1417-16 E02/2000RS78 July 28,2000
© 2000 Klemfelder, Inc Page 8 of 1 l
KI I INi E I lel N !ti?i L tSi lelv ill( 51it(i 1)1oc kion ( A 1)1,?U> 47`14 1 2()O) 94B 1 W-) (211'1) ')48 0021 11\
