VZ1 INC <br /> No documentation has been located to identify the volume of gasoline that was stored in <br /> the tank on an annual basis However, an annual storage estimate of 500 gallons was <br /> indicated by the former Woodbridge Vineyard Association President, Mr Leonard <br /> Thompson This rate of gasoline storage utilization would have provided an estimated total <br /> of approximately 20,000 gallons of fuel through the tank during its period of operation <br /> Precision tank testing was conducted by Jim Thorpe Oil Company on July 23, 1986 and <br /> determined the tank and lines to be certifiable, in accordance with National Fire Protection <br /> Association (NFPA) 329 criteria According to NFPA 329 criteria, a tank is considered <br /> certifiable if the rate of demonstrated leakage during a test is determined to be less than <br /> 0 5 gallon per hour A second tank testing event was also conducted by Jim Thorpe Oil <br /> Company on September 28, 1987 and determined the tank and lines to also be certifiable <br /> by NFPA 329 criteria This second tank testing event was conducted prior to the sale of <br /> the winery from Woodbridge Vineyard Association to Sebastiani Vineyards <br /> Underground Storage Tank Removal <br /> Sebastiani management decided to remove the tank in order to allow the rapid development <br /> of a planned future warehouse Permit No 88--0053 was issued to Sebastiani on June 7, <br /> 1988 by County Public Health for the removal of the storage tank The tank was removed <br /> on November 4, 1988, by Claude C Wood Company of Lodi, California The removal <br /> operation was monitored by Mr Harlan Knoll, Registered Sanitarian who represented <br /> County Public Health <br /> During the tank removal operation, a small hole was observed to be present on the bottom <br /> of the tank and gasoline fuel was present within the soil excavated immediately underneath <br /> the former tank location Mr Knoll subsequently filed an Underground Storage Tank <br /> Unauthorized Release (LEAK)/Contamination Site Report on December 12, 1988 <br /> Following the tank removal, one soil sample was collected from the tank excavation on <br /> November 4, 1988 by Canonie Environmental Services of Stockton, California under the <br /> 19150011 005 7 <br />
