WZ1 INC
5 0 SITE ASSESSMENT INVESTIGATION
Soil and groundwater sampling procedures, analytical methods and monitoring well
construction details reported by McLaren (1989a) are summarized in this section of the
PAR These data have been previously provided by McLaren
Soil boring and monitoring well logs are presented in Appendix I The locations of all soil
borings and monitoring wells are depicted on Exhibit 4
5.1 Soil Sampling
Soil borings SB-1 to 5 and monitoring wells MW-1 through -8 were drilled during the time
period of May 15 to 26, 1989 with an Ingersol-Rand TH-10, hollow-stem auger drill rig
Monitoring wells MW-9 and -10 were drilled on June 1 and 2, 1989 with a Mobile Drill B-61,
hollow-stem auger drill rig
Monitoring well MW-1 was initially drilled with six and five-eighths-inch outside diameter
(O D ) hollow-stem augers to a total depth of 41 feet bgs The bottom seven feet of this
pilot hole were backfilled with pelletized sodium bentonite and the remaining 34 feet of
borehole was enlarged by redrilling with 11-718-inch O D hollow-stem augers to allow for
construction of a four-inch diameter well Monitoring wells MW-2 through -10 and soil
borings SB-1 through -5 were drilled with six and five-eighths-inch O D hollow-stem
augers
Monitoring wells MW-1, -2 and -3 were drilled to a total depth of 41 feet bgs surface
Monitoring wells MW-5 through -8 were drilled to 40 feet bgs, and monitoring wells MW-4,
-9 and -10 were drilled to approximately 30 feet bgs Soil borings SB-1 through -5 were
drilled to 17 5 feet bgs
19150011 005 15
