QUARTERLY GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING REVIEW
4614 W TURNER RD , LODI
PAGE 3
Only Monitoring Wells 1 and 2 showed indications of any contamination.
MW-1 2 6 ppb Benzene and 3 1 ppb Ethylbenzene TPHg was ND This well
showed no contaminants for the first two quarters of 1995 However, prior to
1995, it has shown some level of contaminant due to its proximity to the site of
the former tank The levels remain very low, indicating the persistence of an
extremely small residual contamination
MW-2 50 ppb TPHg This is an unusual reading MW-2 has shown no
contaminants since the tank was removed in 1989, except once in the first
quarter of 1992 when it showed 70 ppb TPHg This most recent reading may
be a similar erratic appearance not indicative of any plume migration. MW-2
will be tested in the next round of sampling
Monitoring wells 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 were ND for all contaminants tested This is
consistent with the last five years, there has been no indication of a spreading or
migrating plume
Summary
• In the spring of 1995, water levels rose to within two feet of the bottom of the former
tank Any significant amounts of soluble contaminants in the soil would have
appeared in the water tests from the second and third quarter Two quarters of ND in
the wells closest to the site, and the extremely low readings in MW-1 and MW-2 this
quarter, accompanied by ND in all other wells, indicates the persistence of an
extremely small residual contamination This contamination poses no threat to human
or environmental health, and is very likely to completely bioremediate in the next few
years
Sebastiani Vineyards is in the process of contracting with an engineer to develop a
closure report for the site We will continue to monitor on a quarterly basis until the
site is closed or a different monitoring schedule is approved
I can be reached at (209) 339-1311 with any questions or comments you may have
related to this project
Yours truly,
SEBASTIANI VINEYARDS
.
