• <br /> was mobilized on monitoring well #2 at 1150 hours, (see PLATE VI <br /> for its location ) Surface sediments consisted of tan to light <br /> brown salty clay, firm & dry Because of the irregular surface, ' <br /> at was necessary to raise the rig somewhat to level at, and core <br /> measurements are one (1) foot higher <br /> The first core was taken from 4 ' -51611 , recovery was 1211 of tan to <br /> light brown silty clay, with some black inclusions - either <br /> decomposed asphalt or carbonaceous material No odors were <br /> noted The bottom sleeve was promptly sealed and preserved using <br /> the same field procedures described earlier <br /> Cores were taken at 5 foot intervals from 9 ' to 3516" using WJH <br /> standard field protocol described above The first petroleum <br /> odor was noted from the cored interval 191 -201611 , but no visible <br /> staining or discoloration was noted, and a portion of the core <br /> placed an a sealed plastic bag did not show a response when <br /> tested with the PID meter <br /> The next core, from 241 -251611 , also had a petroleum odor, but no <br /> visible evidence of contamination was noted, and the PID meter <br /> • dad not gave a positive reading <br /> The cored interval from 291 -3016" dad not have an odor, showed no <br /> evidence of staining or discoloration, and gave no response when <br /> screened with the PID meter . <br /> The final core was taken from 341 -3516" It consisted of tan to <br /> brown sticky clay, with some inclusions of black minerals . The <br /> material did not appear wet . The core head contained sticky <br /> blue-grey clay, it had a faint petroleum odor. A portion of the <br /> core placed in a plastic bad and screened with the PID meter dad <br /> not show a reading. For complete details of blow counts, core <br /> recovery, & lithology, refer to PLATE VIII <br /> The augers were advanced about 5 feet, a weighted tape was run <br /> and located water at 37 ' below grade The augers were then <br /> advanced to 50 ' for completing When the augers were removed <br /> after running casing, the bottom 15 ' were covered with very wet, <br /> sticky blue clay with occasional lenses of sandy clay There was <br /> a petroleum odor noted <br /> 2" Schedule 40, blank & slotted flush screw-]oant PVC was run 1n <br /> the flights to 501 ; the bottom 20 ' consisted of horizontal 020" <br /> machine cut slots with a solid screw on plug on the bottom. The <br /> top of the screen was at 301 , approximately 7 ' above the water <br /> table From 30 ' to the surface was blank #3 Lonstar graded <br /> • sand was poured down the annular space between the casing and the <br /> 6 <br />
