SJCPHD-EHD Final ground-water monitoring and well-abandonment tasks have now been
completed, as described in this final Project Status Report by W W Irwin, Inc
' The results of the analysis of sample no "Soil Pile A" revealed 156 m /K of TEPH-motor oil
P mg/Kg
(by EPA Modified Method 8015) and 43 mg/Kg of TRPH-oil & grease (by EPA Method 418 1)
A method for disposition of the soil is landfill disposal It would involve costly, manifested,
hazmat-type transport by dump truck to a Class II landfill A treatment, storage, and disposal
(TSD) facility such as Forward, Inc in Manteca will accept the soil at a cost of about $20 00±
1 per ton
' However, project manager Dayne L Frary requests the cooperation of the SJCPHS-EHD in
allowing for on-site spreading and aeration The TEPH-motor oil concentration is dust 156
mg/Kg, and the soil should aerate well if spread in its present overall location No volatile
' components are known in decomposing TEPH-motor oil Therefore, atmospheric impaction
would be negligible If a confirmation sample for TEPH-motor oil analysis is ordered by the
SJCPHS-EHD, it should be collected in July or August At that time, a sample would be
expected to exhibit less than 100 mg/Kg of TEPH-motor oil Then, final closure might be
obtained This plan for soil disposition is by far the least costly of the two options
1
I
I
W W Irvin, Inc
Projects 33236 00&33236 01
Apnl 1996 8
