Quarterly Report - February 1997 <br /> COMFORT AIR <br /> 1607 Turnpike Road, Stockto , <br /> I.O. INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with the request of Mr Greg Gaut, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has <br /> prepared this Quarterly Report for the property at 1607 Turnpike Road, Stockton, California The <br /> report summarizes field work performed at the site during February 1997 The location of the site is <br /> illustrated in Figure 1 -Location Map A layout of the property is depicted in Figure 2 - Site Plan <br /> This report is prepared in accordance with the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites <br /> 20 BACKGROUND <br /> 21 SITE LOCATION <br /> The Comfort Air facility is a heating and air conditioning sales and repair business located at 1607 <br /> Turnpike Road, Stockton, California, in an area of low topographic relief in southwestern Stockton <br /> The site is located in section 10, Township 1 north, Range 6 east, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian <br /> (Figure 1) The surrounding area is utilized for residential and light industrial purposes The Port of <br /> Stockton lies approximately two miles northwest of the site <br /> 22 SITE HISTORY <br /> One 550-gallon gasoline underground storage tank (UST) was removed from the site in January <br /> 1989 Followmng the tank removal, soil samples were collected beneath the UST and submitted to a <br /> laboratory for analysis for petroleum hydrocarbons Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) were <br /> detected in soil samples at concentrations as high as 5,800 mg/kg (milligrams per kilogi am or parts <br /> per million ppm) <br />' In February 1992, three groundwater monitoring wells were installed near the former UST area by <br /> RESNA Industries of Escalon, California Evidence of petroleum hydrocarbon soil contamination was <br /> detected in all borings at depths between 20 and 35 feet below surface grade (bsg) Initial ground <br />' water samples contained total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) at <br /> concentrations as high as 300,000 pg/l (micrograms per liter or parts per billion ppb) and volatile <br /> aromatics(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes BTEX) at concentrations as high as 17,000 <br /> Yg/l <br /> A fourth groundwater monitoring well was installed downgradient of the former UST area in October <br />
