Florido, Elianna [EHD]
From: Florido, Elianna [EHD]
Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2020 2:51 PM
To: Bill Stoermer
Subject: RE: Fremont Plaza Ace Hardware
Importance: High
Hi Bill,
Please forgive my delay to your 8/3/20 email. Also, thank you for providing the metal analysis for the key fines and pipe
threader shavings.
For a complete metals analysis on the key fines, the following tests are still needed:
1. A STLC test and a TCLP test on the Lead content in the key fines.
2. A STLC test on the Zinc content in the key fines.
These tests will determine if the key fines are a federal hazardous waste, in addition to being a state hazardous waste.
Depending on if the key fines are a federal and/or a state hazardous waste, you will need to ensure that Stericycle enters
the appropriate federal and/or state waste codes on the hazardous waste disposal manifests. You may also take the key
fines to the San Joaquin County Household Hazardous Waste facility, and you will have to disclose the appropriate
federal and/or state waste codes, or the metal content, to the Household Hazardous Waste facility.
Based on the metals analysis you provided, you may take the pipe threader shavings to a metal recycling facility, and you
should keep recycling records, preferably a receipt from the recycling facility.
The pipe threader shavings should have the cutting oil drained off prior to recycling the shavings.
Lastly, please complete the following:
- Submit the disposal receipt from the SJC Household Hazardous Waste facility for the unusable cutting oil, paint
colorant containers, spill clean-up material, and spray paint canisters.
- Re-train employees on proper hazardous waste management, submit proof of the re-training, and a copy of the
training materials.
- Submit the disposal receipt from the SJC Household Hazardous Waste facility for the used fluorescent tubes.
I'm glad to hear you had a good experience working with the SJC Household Hazardous Waste facility and Stericycle. I'll
forward your positive remarks to their Program Coordinator.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
FREE classes presented by NES Inc. are available to all San Joaquin County Hazardous Waste, Underground Storage
Tank, and Aboveground Petroleum Storage Facility Business Owners and Operators. List and schedule of classes can be
found here.
Thank you,
Elianna Florido, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
1868 East Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
