. OBSERVATIONS AND ANALYTICAL RESULTS
No free-phase liquid hydrocarbon layer or sheen was seen on the water tape during the
measurement of any of the groundwater monitoring wells In addition, all purged and sampled
water appeared to be clear and lacked any odor (Appendix B)
The groundwater gradient in the area of the three monitoring wells appears to slope
toward the north at approximately one foot per six hundred feet (Figure 2) This gradient is
consistent with the observations of previous quarters
The laboratory results are non-detect for BTEX and TPH-diesel (<0 5 micrograms per
liter (µg/L) and <50 gg/L, respectively) for all of the groundwater samples extracted from the
wells The results of the laboratory analyses are presented in Table 1 A copy of the laboratory
analytical report and the chain-of-custody record is included in Appendix A
CONCLUSION
The laboratory results for this sampling period are consistent with the findings presented
to EHD as reported in First Quarter 2003 Sampling Report RMC Pacific Materials
Kerlinger Aggregate Plant (August 19, 2003), Groundwater Monitor Wells Second Quarter
2003 Sampling Report (January 8, 2004) and First Quarter 2004 Monitoring Report (March
16, 2004)
This quarter's results contradict the Second Quarter 2004 Monitoring Report (August
26, 2004) in which the laboratory reported finding TPH-diesel at 89 µg/L in the sample extracted
from MW-06 and TPH-diesel at 99 µg/L in the sample extracted from MW-08
The cumulative results for sampling and analysis at the facility are non-detect for all
analytes The local groundwater beneath the former asphalt plant has likely not been affected by
the petroleum contamination discovered in the upper surface soil layers during the 2002
installation of the monitor wells
•
Quarter 3 Sampling Report-2004
