. OBSERVATIONS AND ANALYTICAL RESULTS
No free-phase liquid hydrocarbon layer or sheen was seen on the water tape during the
measurement of any of the groundwater monitoring wells Also, all purged and sampled water
appeared to be clear and lacked any odor (see field sheets, Appendix B)
The groundwater gradient in the area of the three monitoring wells appears to slope
toward the north at approximately one foot per six hundred feet (Figure 3) This gradient is
consistent with the observations of all previous quarters (Chart 2)
The laboratory results are non-detect for BTEX and TPH-diesel (<0 5 micrograms per
liter (µg/L) and <50 µg/L, respectively) for all of the groundwater samples extracted from the
wells The results of the laboratory analyses are presented in Table 1 A copy of the laboratory
analytical report and the chain-of-custody record is included in Appendix A
CONCLUSION
The laboratory results for this sampling period are consistent with the findings presented
to EHD for MW-04 and MW-05 as reported in First Quarter 2003 Sampling Report, RMC
Pacific Materials Kerlinger Aggregate Plant (August 19, 2003) and Groundwater Monitor
Wells Second Quarter 2003 Sampling Report (January 8, 2004)
This quarter's results contradict the Second Quarter 2003 Report in which the laboratory
reported finding TPH-diesel at 89 µg/L in the sample extracted from MW-06 A concentration at
that level, however, is just slightly above the laboratory's method detection limit
The cumulative results for sampling and analysis at the facility are non-detect The local
groundwater beneath the former asphalt plant has likely not been affected by the petroleum
contamination discovered in the upper surface soil layers during the 2002 installation of the
monitor wells
•
Quarter 1 Sampling Report-2004
