REMEDIAL SOIL & GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION <br /> i And SECOND QUARTER 2004 GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT <br /> I RMC PACIFIC MATERIALS <br /> KERLINGER AGGREGATE FACILITY <br /> 30350 SOUTH TRACY BLVD <br /> ITRACY, CALIFORNIA <br /> San Joaquin County Site Code#1737 <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In August 2002, at the direction of San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Department (EHD), RMC Pacific Materials (RMC) began a project to evaluate the extent <br /> of soil contamination from petroleum product releases discovered during the removal of <br /> three underground storage tanks at the above-referenced location The project was <br /> comprised of the following elements <br /> • Five soil borings were drilled down to one hundred forty feet below surface grade <br /> (bsg) in order to contact the local groundwater table in the area of the former <br /> tanks <br /> • Soil and water samples were taken from each boring and submitted to a State- <br /> certified laboratory for analysis <br /> • Three of the borings were converted to groundwater monitoring wells, the other <br /> • two were properly abandoned <br /> • On April 4, 2003, RMC submitted its report titled Site Assessment Report - <br /> Possible Groundwater Contamination, RMC Pacific Materials Kerlinger <br /> I Aggregate Plant to EHD for review EHD reviewed the document and determined <br /> that, in addition to quarterly sampling of the new wells, supplemental work would <br /> be necessary to further delineate the lateral extent of contamination <br /> IRMC completed five groundwater-monitoring events as referenced in Table 4 The <br /> results of these events were submitted to EHD As summarized in Table 4, laboratory <br /> analytical results for the concentration of TPH-diesel in groundwater are non-detect, with <br /> one exception—(MW-06, 11/17/2003, 89 µg/L) <br /> I On February 13, 2004, RMC submitted its new work plan(Remedial Soil <br /> Investigation/ Work Plan—Site #1737) to EHD for review, the plan was accepted by <br /> EHD on April 23`d and implemented by RMC on June 9d` This report describes the <br /> I methodology used to complete the project, general field observations, results of <br /> laboratory analyses on the collected soil and groundwater samples plus the results of <br /> quarterly sampling on all five of the site's groundwater-monitor wells <br />`5 <br /> NEw SOIL BORING AND MONITOR WELL INSTALLATION <br /> Eight new soil borings were drilled at the site (Figure 2) to further evaluate the <br /> • horizontal and vertical extents of contamination The locations of the borings surround <br /> I, <br /> I1 <br />
