As discussed in a letter from PHS/EHD to
you, dated June 12, 1992, a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) must be compiled and
submitted to PHS/EHD at the completion of the year of groundwater monitoring.
A CAP for this site is to be submitted to PHS/EHD by September 13, 1993.
The groundwater data collected to date has consistently shown high levels of total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and xylenes. Other contaminants, at varying levels of
concentrations, have also been detected in the groundwater. Because of these high levels
of contamination, some form of an active remediation system needs to be studied, 4`
designed and put into use at this site to effectively remediate and restore the
groundwater.
Any feasibility or pilot studies needed for evaluating various remediation alternatives for
this site should be scheduled and completed within the next two quarters. This data will
be needed for incorporation into the CAP and should be used to justify the remedial
option chosen for this site. The CAP must present at least two active remediation
alternatives and discuss the cost effectiveness and cleanup efficiency of both options.
The CAP must also include a time schedule for the implementation of the remediation
system, for the estimated duration of the cleanup and for any post remedial verification
monitoring that may be needed.
A Dtvtsion of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
