Turner Rd. SITE SITE CODE: 1741
Lodi, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has recently reviewed the report prepared by
Environmental Science and Engineering, Inc. (ESE) titled
"Documentation of November 1991 Groundwater Sampling" for the
above referenced site. Groundwater contamination has been
confirmed. Water sample results from monitoring well 3 evidenced
0. 9 parts per billion (ppb) of Toluene and 1.5 ppb of total
Xylene.
Groundwater contamination has been documented in previous
reports: Water sample results from monitoring well 2 (1. 3 ppb
Benzene, 0. 8 ppb Toluene) in February 1991.
Soil Sample results from boring B-2Y performed October 31, 1990
revealed soil contamination exists at 110 parts per million 14
feet below ground surface (C.T. Laboratory I.D. 102134--4) . This
contamination was supported by ESE's boring log description at 14
feet. Unfortunately, this boring was not continued and sampled
to further define the extent of vertical contamination.
For the above reasons, PHS/EHD can not consider this site for
closure at this time. In addition, if an upgradient offsite
contamination source has contributed to groundwater
contamination, as referenced in E.S.E. 's latest report, that
source must be identified and the contamination migration proven.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, contact
Harlin Knoll, RENS, of my staff at (209) 468-3442 .
Jogi Khan a, M.D. , M.P.H.
Health, f icer
f.
curie A.
