KLEINFELDER
January 8, 1993
File 24-220172-A00
Ms Linda Turkette f1
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
455 San Joaquin Street ENVIr, ,
Stockton, CA 95201 , -y - ,,!C w3
Subject: Ground Water Assessment Work Plan
Ground Water Gradient Review
Cal West Concrete Cutting, Inc.
1153 Vanderbilt Circle
Manteca, California
Dear Ms Turkette
As part of the ground water assessment at Cal West Concrete Cutting, Inc (Cal West),
Klemfelder reviewed ground water assessment reports for a facility at 575 Industrial Park
Drive to assess the local ground water gradient According to the two reports received, two
phases of ground water assessment were performed by Treadwell & Rollo, Inc at
575 Industrial Park Drive The first phase, performed in July 1990, consisted of the
installation of a single boring to ground water and sampling from the open boring No
gradient information could be derived from this report
The second phase, performed in August and September 1991, consisted of the installation of
three monitoring wells and two rounds of ground water sampling The first round of samples,
including water level measurements for gradient evaluation, were collected on August 23,
1991. A second round of samples and water level measurements were collected on
September 17, 1991. For both rounds, the ground water gradient was calculated to be
approximately 0.0026 feet per foot in a northwest direction (from Ground Water Conditions
Report for 575 Industrial Park Drive by Treadwell & Rollo, Inc. dated November 5, 1991,
page 8) Copies of Table 1 - Summary of Ground Water Elevation Data and Figure 2 - Site
Plan (showing the well locations and the calculated direction of ground water flow) are
included for reference from the Treadwell & Rollo, Inc report
Based on the above information, Kleinfelder proposes the installation of a single monitoring
well to the northwest of the previous tank excavation at the Cal West site per the protocol
described in our Ground Water Assessment Workplan for Cal West Concrete Cutting, Inc
dated October 29, 1992 The approximate location of the proposed well is shown on the
enclosed revised version of Plate 1 - Possible Well Locations (from Kleinfelder's workplan of
October 29, 1992)
Sincerely,
KL7LDER, C
Enc S Fin lay, R G
Senior Geologist
cc Brick Joseph, Cal West Concrete Cutting, Inc
FL6-2(1993)
copyright 1993 Kleinfelder, Inc
KLEINFELDER 3077 Fite Circle, Sacramento, CA 95827 (916) 366-1701
