At the direction of the SJCPHS,EHD representative <br /> L on site, Kleinfelder collected one soil sample from the floor of the over-excavation. The soil sample <br /> r <br /> was very moist, grey, silty clay. Laboratory analyses of the floor sample indicated 190 mg/kg diesel <br /> was present in the soil. No other petroleum hydrocarbons were detected at the reported laboratory <br /> r <br /> detection limits. <br /> In July, 1988, OES removed one 10,000-gallon diesel UST (TK2) located adjacent to the <br /> former location of TKl. A SJCPHS,EHD representative was on site to select sampling locations from <br /> R beneath TK2 and the required laboratory analyses. Kleinfelder was on site to collect soil samples. <br /> One soil sample was collected from beneath each end of TK2 at a depth of approximately 14 feet <br /> below the ground surface. The soil sample was very moist, grey, sandy silt. Laboratory analyses <br /> detected 1,200 mg/kg diesel in the sample collected from beneath the north end of TK2 and 310 <br /> mg/kg diesel in the sample collected from beneath the south end. No other petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> were detected at the reported laboratory detection limits in the soil samples collected from beneath the <br /> •. former location of TK2. <br /> r, Records reviewed at the SJCPHS,EHD revealed that several sites have been impacted by <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons in the vicinity of the Port of Stockton. The nearest site to Di Salvo Truck <br /> L, Lines is located at 601 South Ventura Avenue and is approximately 2,000 feet to the south. A second <br /> site located at 2115 West Washington has undergone a groundwater investigation, however, the site <br /> ` has not been impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons according to SJCPHS,EHD records. The site is <br /> located approximately 1,000 feet southwest of the Di Salvo site. Based on the records reviewed at <br /> V SJCPHS,EHD, Condor concludes: <br /> r <br /> 1) The potentiometric surface at 601 S. Ventura site was relatively flat (0.8'/100' to <br /> L, 1.5'/100') and the groundwater flow direction was toward the east-southeast in June of 1992, <br /> and June of 1993. The potentiometric surface at the 2115 W. Washington site was also <br /> relatively flat (0.8'/100'), however, the groundwater flow direction was toward the west- <br /> northwest in March, 1994. <br /> 1 2) The records reviewed did not indicate that petroleum contamination identified in the soil <br /> Land groundwater at nearby sites has impacted the Di Salvo Truck Lines site. <br /> U CONDOR <br />
