However, depending on
the size and condition of the finished excavation, additional soil samples may need to be obtained
above what is proposed in the workplan. Please be prepared to collect additional samples, if needed.
Should the over-excavation fail to remove all impacted soil and groundwater, fate and transport
modelling may be needed to indicate future environmental impact. Therefore, the soil samples being
collected may also be analyzed for several model input parameters, such as organic carbon content,
porosity, hydraulic conductivity, etc, if needed.
The workplan does not address the ultimate fate of the soil to be generated by over-excavation.
Therefore, a soil treatment and/or disposal plan should be submitted at the same time as the report of
findings.
The work as proposed in the workplan can be scheduled to begin at any time. Please provide
PHSIEHD with at least 48 hours advance notice prior to beginning site work.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss this letter in more detail, please contact Linda Turkatte,
Senior REHS, at (209) 468-3441.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health M&Twj
Linda Turkatte, Senior REHS Diane M.
