06 March 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 00-0796
3.0. FINDINGS
3.1. SOIL PROFILE
Generally, moderate yellowish brown to yellowish gray, damp, poorly-graded fine sand to silty sand
was encountered at depths of 5 feet bsg and 10 feet bsg. Dark yellowish brown to moderate yellowish
brown, damp, silty sand and sandy silt was encountered at approximately 15 feet bsg. The boring
logs are included in Appendix A.
3.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
TRPH was detected in sample P2-5 at 25 mg/kg. TRPH was not detected in the remaining analyzed
samples. HVOCs were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in any ofthe analyzed samples.
The analytical results are summarized in Table 1. Copies of the laboratory report(MAI Lab numbers
59985, 59987, 59990, 59993 and 59996) and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B.
4.0. DISCUSSION
The concentration of TRPH detected in sample P2-5 is very low. It should be noted that the
analytical method for TRPH, EPA method 418.1, also will detect a certain spectrum of organic and
plant matter. The concentrations of TRPH encountered at this site may have also included organic
matter in the soil. Based on the low concentration of TRPH in this sample, AGE believes that it is
unlikely that the PHS-EHD or CVRWQCB will require further investigation at this time.
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE does not recommend any additional subsurface
assessment at this time.
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluations of the geologic conditions
at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number of available data
points (i.e. soil samples) and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points.
