1
3.3 Proximity of Wells in the Area
A record search of existing wells was conducted through the California Department of Water
Resources (DWR) The area searched was within a one-mile radius of the subject property
There are approximately sixty-four wells on record at DWR The wells consist of thirty-four
monitoring wells, seven domestic wells, seven industrial wells, four test wells, one gas well and
one irrigation well Ten of the sixty-four wells listed did not identify the type of well Records
indicate a domestic well approximately 114 mile due east of the site
' 4.0 LITHOLOGY
Soil encountered beneath the project site consists primarily of lean to fat clay (CL/CH) to
' approximately 41 5 feet below grade Apparent interbedded sand (SW, SP, & SC) and silt
(ML,MH) lenses were noted at various depths in soil borings MW1, MW3, and MW4 Silt was
encountered in soil boring MW2 at approximately 41-41 5 feet below grade, the maximum depth
explored A stratigraphic cross section orientation is shown on Figure 3 Site Stratigraphy is
shown on Figure 4
1 No product odors were observed in any of the four soil borings (MW 1 through MW4) as noted
in the well/soil boring logs included in Appendix I
1
Recent groundwater monitoring (March 10, 1993) indicates water exists at approximately 9 6
1 to 12 5 feet below grade Historical monitoring measurements are summarized on Table 4
5.0 DISCUSSION
5.1 Soil Contamination
Field PID readings and supporting laboratory analyses of soil samples collected from borings
MWI through MW4 did not indicate hydrocarbon constituents in the outlying borings,
' suggesting impacted soils are limited to a relatively small area Based upon data collected to
date, residual soil contamination appears to exist in the northern area of the former tank pit over
an area of approximately 25 by 55 feet between the depths of approximate of 13 to 20 feet below
PAR-0593 FNL 3
1
