Ms . Laurie Cotulla
June 1 , 1987
Page 2
Research available literature to assess the
regional and site specific hydrogeology and to
locate water wells within a one-half mile radius of
the site.
" Based on the literature review and any existing field
data, position and install three 2-inch diameter ground-
water monitoring wells to assess the subsurface hydro-
geologic and contaminant conditions .
" The"'vertical- and horiz ntal- extent of contamination
on-site will -be assessed using field obse,rvation-s.
,and-soil and water. sam les..,
" Subsurface lithology will be determined by the
supervising field geo ogist during drilling of the
monitoring wells . The drilling will be conducted
using a hollow stem auger drilling rig with
7 . 5-inch O.D. (outside diameter) augers .
Soil samples will be retrieved at approximately
five-foot intervals and/or points of changing
lithology until the water table is encountered.
The samples will be collected during drilling using
a 2 . 5-inch O . D . split spoon sampler lined with
three, 2x6-inch brass sample tixbes . The sampler
will be driven 18 inches ahead of the augers at ?
each sample point .
i
" Soil samples will be screened in the field using a
photoionizer device ( PID HNU 101 ) . The PID
measures total Ionizable compounds in vapors from
the soil . Each soil sample in the split spoon
adjacent to the sample saved for potential analysis
4
FF
i
