Sierra-Pacific Groudwater Consultants, Inc. g Y
Geologists, Engineers, and Compliance Specialists
F' MAIT FRVICS
May 15, 1998 8 HAY 18 AH 11: 5 6
David Stavarek, SLIC Unit
Central Valley - California Regional Water Quality Control Board
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, California 95827-3098
Subject: Regulatory Closure, Former PureGro Molasses Feed Product Facility, 2130 West
Washington Street,Stockton,Sierra Pacific Project No. 92-033
Dear Mr. Stavarek:
Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants,Inc. (Sierra-Pacific) has been monitoring shallow ground water at
2130 West Washington Street, Stockton on behalf of Unocal since 1993. On the basis,of five years of ground
water investigations, it would appear that molasses-based feed product concentrations known to be present
beneath the Washington Street facility have had little or no deleterious effect on near-surface ground water
resources. The hydrogeologic regime may be complex, and the lack of significant ground water impact may `
seem enigmatic, but the facts of the case seem undeniable.
.We believe that no further investigation is needed at Washington Street because very little has changed in five
years of monitoring. If you are not comfortable with certain issues,we would be glad to visit your office to
discuss technical issues. =
Sincerely,
SIERRA-PACIFIC GROUNDWATER CONSULTANTS,INC.
.
