Box 595
Linden, CA 95236
REQUEST FOR A GROUNDWATER MONITORING WORKPLAN, LINDEN COUNTY WATER
DISTRICT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
On 4 December 2000, we met to discuss the expansion plans for the Linden County Water District's
wastewater treatment system and the technical report requirements included in the Board's 18 October
2000 correspondence requesting a Report of Waste Discharge (RWD). Because no groundwater data is
available, at this time we cannot determine if additional percolation/evaporation ponds will be permitted
onsite. The determination can be made after the District characterizes groundwater quality at the
treatment facility.
As part of the RWD, the District is required to install groundwater monitoring wells and characterize
groundwater quality. Based on the proposed configuration of the wastewater ponds, it is anticipated that a
minimum of four groundwater monitoring wells will be required to adequately determine the quality of
the shallow groundwater beneath the site. The wells shall be located so the groundwater quality can be
determined both upgradient and downgradient of the wastewater treatment and disposal areas.
By 19 January 2001 the District shall submit a Groundwater Monitoring Well Installdtion Workplan.
The workplan shall be prepared under the supervision of a California Registered Engineer or Geologist
and shall be consistent with the attached guidance document, Items to be Included in a Monitoring Well
Installation Workplan and a Monitoring Well Installation Report of Results.
Please call me at (916) 255-3116 if you have any questions regarding this request for a technical report.
TIMOTHY R.
