Vaughn <br /> The use of sewage effluent for irrigation of fruit trees will require that the <br /> following measures be implemented to assure the protection of public health. <br /> 1. The sewage needs to receive at least primary treatment. <br /> 2. Watering to be done by Rill or Flood irrigation. <br /> 3. The public to be effectively excluded from contact with the <br /> reclaimed sewage (i.e. , fencing of use area with signs, warning <br /> of the use of sewage effluent, posted at least every 300 feet) . <br /> 4. Workers in the orchard must be notified about the use of reclaimed <br /> sewage and advised about the handling of wastewater as necessary to <br /> protect themselves. <br /> 5. Irrigation with reclaimed sewage should be kept 500 feet from any <br /> domestic well. <br /> 6. Irrigation practice should be such as to prevent the breeding of <br /> vectors. <br /> HRV:hmg <br />
