Ten Safewasher Service FAQ ' s for SSRs Page 1
1 . Can I soak parts overnight?
No. Parts should not be soaked overnight (and most likely doesn 't need to) .
I5-30 mins. is typical and sufficient for removing "caked " on grease
and oil. You can use a small container ( 2 lb plastic coffee or similar)
with small holes punched in the bottom. Parts put in the container will soak
but will drain over time.
2 . 1 washed a part and left it on the bench over night, why was there rust on it
the next day?
The Safewasher degreasing fluid will clean parts down to bare metal without
leaving an oily residue. Parts that can rust (ferrous metal) will do so from the
humidity in the air and not directly from the Safewasher fluid.
A simple cure is to spray parts with a small amount of lubricant ( WD40) or
use SW6 Ozz}juice which contains a rust inhibitor.
3 . The fluid looks dirty, don ' t you have to replace the degreaser with clean, fresh
fluid?
No. The " bio " process used by the Safewasher continuously cleans the degreasing
fluid. Micro -organisms consume and degrade oils and grease converting them to
CO2 and Water which evaporate over time. Fresh degreasing fluid is added only
during regular service intervals to keep the washer at the proper level.
4. Can I unplug the washer at night?
This is not recommended. The microbes which support the bio process require
a heated environment to work well. In addition, it will take 2-3 hours to re -heat
when it 's plugged in and possibly not allowing optimum cleaning.
The Safe Washer only consumes 7 watts and 110 volts ofpower, about as much
as a DVD player. It 's economically sound and designed to be left plugged in.
5 . The Safewasher is plugged in but the fluid is cold?
The first possible cause and most typical is a blown heaterfuse. Secondly it
could be low fluid. Check the Red, low fluid light, on the control box.
6 . Why does the SafeWasher keeps tripping the circuit breaker?
There are too many pieces of equipment on the circuit or plugged in.
Secondly, the outlet could have poor grounding.
7 . If there is oil in the fluid how can I wash brakes with it?
Cleaning fluid is drawn from the bottom of the tank; oily residue will concentrate
on the surface of the fluid where the majority of bioremediation takes place. The
fluid that comes out of the brush/spigot is pretty much free of oily residue.
i
