FRENCH CAMP
ROAD, MANTECA
-------------------------------------------------------------
Recommendation
Deny the appeal .
Background
The applicant wishes to appeal the H-3 Uniform Building Code
Occupancy Group designation for the subject building.
A portion of the building is presently being used to process
and package firewood. This process generates wood dust.
Appeal Issues
The appellant states in his appeal :
"A dispute has arisen regarding the proper classifi-
cation of a building constructed and occupied pursuant
to San Joaquin County Building Permit No. 141408.
Specifically, the County Building Inspector contends
that the operation causes concentrations of airborne
dust that are "hazardous" and therefore requires a
classification of "1`1-3" under. the Uniform Building
Code ( 1982 ed . ) .
The applicant. contests this asser- Li.on and contends that
the amount of airborne dust caused by the operation
does not equal a hazardous or dangerous situation.
Therefore, the expensive requirements of a "H-3"
building are unnecessary and unwarranted.
