To do this, you will need to have an active facility EPA ID
number and schedule an appointment with the SJC HHW . See the attached brochure for more information .
Keep the last three years of disposal records given to you by the SJC HHW .
Refer to the attached Department of Toxic Substances Control ( DTSC ) fact sheet for more information about hazardous
waste accumulation time for generators, especially the section regarding " satellite accumulation . "
Since your facility is still a small quantity generator ( SQG ) of hazardous waste, you will need to continue to follow the
generator hazardous waste requirements . Refer to the attached DTSC fact sheet- Hazardous Waste Generator
Requirements .
In short, you will need to make sure of the following :
- Container of metal shavings is properly labeled and disposed of ( see attached hazardous waste labeling
requirements )
- Keep 3 years of disposal records at your facility
- Have a modified contingency plan ( emergency information ) posted by a telephone ( see attached SQG
Contingency form )
- Employees are trained and familiar with proper waste handling and emergency procedures relevant to your
facility
Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions .
FREE classes presented by NES Inc. are available to all San Joaquin County Hazardous Waste, Underground Storage
Tank, and Aboveground Petroleum Storage Facility Business Owners and Operators .
