KI iLE1NFELDER
SOIL ASSESSMENT WORK PLAN
AMERICAN MOULDING AND MILLWORK F LCILITY
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
24-220182-B00
August 6, 1992
INTRODUCTION
American Moulding and Millwork Company (AMM) is located approximately 40 acres
at the intersection of Alpine Street and West Lane in Stockton, C ' ornia (Plate 1). AMM
acquired this facility from American Forest Products Company AFPC) in 1987. AFPC
operated a lumber remanufacturing facility at the site from 1921 to 1987. AFPC purchased
lumber from other mills and produced finished products, including furniture kits, cut stock,
agricultural boxes, and moldings.
AMM is considering debt refinancing and wishes to investigate s veral areas at this time.
The following scope of work outlines Kleinfelder's proposed dr lling locations, sampling
protocol, and analytical analyses for the burn pit investigation.
SCOPE OF WORK
Task 1 - Drilling and Sampling of Four Borings
Four borings will be drilled at the approximate locations shown n Plate 2. The borings
will be drilled to a depth of approximately 30 feet. Soil borings will be advanced using a
truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 6-inch hollow stem augeis. The borings will be
drilled, logged, and sampled following the protocol described in A ftachment A, Sections A-
2.1 through A-2.4, and closed as described in Section A-2.7.
Task 2 - Laboratory Analysis
One soil sample from each boring will be selected for laboratory a clysis. The samples will
be selected based on field observations, qualitative screening results, and the objectives of
the investigation. The four soil samples will be submitted to a laboratory certified by the
State of California Department of Toxic Substances Control (I)TSC) for the proposed
analyses. The samples will be analyzed for:
► Extractable total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH);
► Polychlorinated byphenols (PCBs);
► Metals (chromium, lead, nickel, and zinc) by ICP
In addition, two of the four samples will be analyzed for halogenated volatile organic
compounds. Each of the samples will be analyzed on a regular turnaround schedule,
usually requiring 15 working days for completion.
FAT-92-16 Page 1 of 3
Copyright 1992 Kleinfelder,Inc.
