February 25, 1987
Mr. Jeff Lammers
American Molding and Millwork
3310 Bluffview
Garland, Texas 75043
Dear Mr. Lammerst
Phase 11 Investigation
American Molding and Millwork
! Stockton, California
i INTRODUCTION
Dames & Moore performed a site screening of a mold! g and milling faci-
lity owned by AFP (American Forest Products) located on 9 Fest Lane Road in Stockton, California. The scope of this investigation was intended to investi-
gate potential soil and groundwater contamination problems t the site and to
assist with defining the scope of a Phase II investigation as outlined with this
transmittal. In our opinion, the two phases together will inc ude the work that
a prudent person would do to Investigate potential contamination by hazardous
materials, as requested by Pacificorp of Portland, Oregon. The Phase Il site
screening will also Investigate the site's potential contamination problems and
clean-up costs.
On February 17 and 18, a Dames do Moore geologist vi Ited the AFP prop-
erty and conducted a brief Phase I reconnaissance. This ted
also
provided information that identified areas of investigation for a Phase 11 fol-
low up field sampling program, The majority of the informatin concerning plant
( operations, waste streams, .and hazardous materials used on site was supplied by
{ the present owner's representatives. Historical information was also found by
reviewing previous site contamination assessments and recommendation reports
! prepared by Bechtel National, Inc., and a Preliminary Remedial Action Plan pre-
pared by J.H. Kleinfelder & Associates. it is our assumption that this informa-
tion was complete and accurate. Our preliminary assessment based upon these
data, provides the anticipated scope of work and expected costs for the Phase 11
Investigation.
I
OBSERVATIONS
I
The site is located west of West Lane in Stockton California. It is
bound by Stockton Rural Cemetary and San Joaquin Cemetary to the west, light
Industrial and commercial buildings to the east, and reside tial properties to
the north and south.
i
