•
A-2
° Clean nitrile gloves will be worn when handling sample bottles,
equipment and supplies. Separate dedicated gloves were used for
handling the evacuation pump equipment.
SOIL BORINGS
Soil borings will be drilled ,by our subcontractor using a hollow stem
i auger, under the direct supervision of a Dames & Moore geolog st. The geologist
will assist in obtaining relatively undisturbed samples, will maintain a
i continuous log of the boring, and will make observations of site conditions.
During drilling, samples will be obtained at 5-foot intervals.
Soil samples will be obtained by driving a Dames be oore salt sampler
into the ground at the appropriate depth. The sampler will coitain new 2.5-Inch
O.D. stainless steel sampling sleeves. A soil core (contained in the stainless
steel sleeve) will be removed from the sampler. The samples will be wrapped in
1 Teflon sheeting, capped, and taped closed. All samples will be labeled as to
depth, location, soil type, and scheduled analysis. Two sampl s, a primary and
duplicate, will be collected from each sampling depth for analy ls.
All sampling equipment will be washed with a TSP soal solution between
sampling depths and steam cleaned between drilling locations to minimize the
potential for cross contamination. Drilling equipment will I a steam cleaned
between borings.
SAMPLE SHIPPING
All samples will be placed in a cooler with ice and delivered overnight
to the analytical laboratory, in accordance with EPA chain-of-custody proce-
dures. Preservatives, if necessary, will be placed in the sample bottles by the
testing laboratory prior to receipt by Dames do Moore. Duplicate soil samples
will be inventoried at the analytical laboratory.
1
 I ;
